The Trenwith Collection: an Upstairs/Downstairs series by Rosie Clarke
The Trenwith sagas are a collection of books centred around a big country house, each one connected to the family that live there but with different heroes/heroines. The lead story is Sarah and Troy’s. Sarah Trenwith has secretly loved Troy Pelham for a long time, but he is to marry her beautiful sister Marianne. As the younger, pretty but not ravishing sister, Sarah can only worship from afar. Troy is brave, charming, a good friend, but soon he will be disgraced. What will happen when he is cast out by society?
Now that Marianne has thrown Troy’s love back in his face, perhaps one day Sarah’s chance for happiness will come, but there is a terrible war about to begin and Troy is swept up into its maelstrom with far reaching effects that will affect all their lives. Before their story can truly begin, Sarah must fend for herself; cast off by her family, a young girl who has been protected from the real world. Can she learn to stand on her own feet, to face the harsh reality of life and survive? She has a friend in Rose, once her maid, but Sarah must become a strong woman if she is to face the future and all its turmoil.
The second book is Louise and Jack’s, set partly in France, but is connected in various ways to the big house and its inmates; Jack was a groom at the big house and is friendly with the Trenwith heir, Luke. His family has always worked for the family at the big house, but the war has given him the chance to escape. Louise is trapped in an unhappy marriage. Will the war also give her the chance of a new life?
The third book is a story of a forbidden love, when a servant, Rose, dares to love the son of the house, Luke Trenwith. Can they defy conventions and the very fabric of their society?
This collection of books is a tangled web of love, heartbreak, loyalty, but above all courage, and honour. The struggle to find a way to win against the prejudices of a time when class meant everything and love was dismissed as an irrelevance.
These books were written a few years ago so are a little different in style to the sagas I am writing now, but they are full of romance and love and daring. I hope you will enjoy them. Rosie Clarke😊
