Emma Grundy-Haigh has been appointed editorial director at Boldwood Books, while Jasmine Callaghan has been appointed senior commissioning editor.
Grundy-Haigh was most recently at HarperCollins’ Avon imprint, before which she spent five years at Joffe Books, and rose to oversee the Choc Lit imprint, and published various crime bestsellers. She was shortlisted for the Editor of the Year award at The British Book Awards in 2024 and was recognised as a Bookseller Rising Star in 2022.
At Boldwood, Grundy-Haigh will publish romance and romantasy. She will also build a list of crime authors and contribute to the publisher’s growing portfolio of thriller and action adventure writers.
She said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the brilliant team at Boldwood. Its creativity, ambition and commitment to author care are second to none, and I can’t wait to contribute to a list already bursting with talent. I’m excited to champion bold voices in the romantasy and thriller spaces and help bring their spellbinding, pulse-pounding stories to Boldwood’s passionate readership.”
Meanwhile, Callaghan has joined Boldwood as senior commissioning editor. She was previously at Joffe Books, where she published romance, and led the Joffe Books Prize, as well as the company’s Pride initiative. In her new role, she will focus on all the growing sub-genres in the romance space.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the dynamic team at Boldwood Books,” she said. “I’ve long admired their unwavering commitment to their authors and books, and can’t wait to be part of shaping the future of their already fantastic romance list. After three unforgettable years at Joffe Books, I’m ready for this next step and couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter at Boldwood.”
Amanda Ridout, founder and CEO of Boldwood Books, added: “After an exciting award-winning year in 2025 when Boldwood passed the £10m annual turnover milestone, we are delighted to welcome two new brilliant editors to our team. This will boost our fast-growing romance list and ensure that our global bestselling fiction offering is further strengthened across all formats.”
