Character Bios

Fitzwilliam ‘Liam’ Penrose – Eldest of the four Penrose brothers. Until recently he’s been living and working in London as a Project Manager for a large corporation (or doing something clever with numbers as the rest of the family refers to his job).

He returned to the Quay mid-August to join the family for Ma’s 80th birthday celebrations and is trying to figure out what to do with his life. He’s broken up with his long-term girlfriend, Caro, and is taking an extended break from his job until the end of October as he’s close to burn out.

He’d like to move back to the village because he misses his family and feels disconnected from them. His great-uncle, Davy, has handed him the chance to do that by giving him the deeds to his hotel which is located on the seafront, but he’s conscious of how much his parents sacrificed in the past to give him the very best education, and feels he must do his best to live up their expectations.

Issy Kernow – runs The Cosy Coffee Pot, a café her she set up with her nan, Maud, after the untimely death of Issy’s parents in a boating accident when she was in her late teens.

Anya is the heart of the community and she keeps an eye out for everyone. She is very proud of the Hub, a community space she persuaded the council to build as an extension to the café and she’s always looking for ways to improve the support it offers the village residents.

She has been best friends with Anya, Chloe and Kat since they were children and the four of them will do anything for each other. Issy is mostly content with life and the only fly in the ointment is the unwelcome return of her childhood sweetheart, Liam Penrose. The sooner he goes back to London, the sooner she can forget all about him again.
