Julie Gold was mainly a cameo character in my first book Francesca. I was surprised and flattered when
people messaged me telling me how much they loved her character with her Mae West sex appeal and
witty sarcasm. Everyone expressed an interest in her story as only parts of it where drip fed in
Francesca. People wanted to know how she and Ralph Gold met. Ralph with his calm exterior and julie
with her fiery temper. After finishing the ‘Lambrianu Series’, I felt it was time to give julie a stage of her
own. She never did like competition! Julie was a character I loved to write about, she has so much
material to write. You could go on forever. It’s as if she is a real person to myself and hopefully my
readers who have enjoyed her journey with me. Although I confess she may be based on some of the
strong women I know, (although, not murderers)! Lol. I have only been writing for around three years
now, and I used think to myself I would be happy if just one person read my book and enjoyed it. As a
novice writer, that is your goal. To get someone to read and enjoy your book as much as you have
enjoyed writing it.
Originally from London, I have met all kinds of people that formed characters for my books. I have
worked in all kinds of places. But, waitressing and barmaiding in the local stripper pubs in the East End,
was a lot of fun and a great education! I now live in Yorkshire but, make a big point of visiting these
pubs again whenever I visit London to see my son. The girls are great fun, the customers are even
funnier and the publicans are electric with their warm welcome to me and their free drinks! All in all a
great night out.
Authors don’t write for the money, if that’s all your doing it for your going to be severely disappointed.
although it is nice when you actually get paid. But, it is a love of writing. Write for yourself. It’s your
hobby, your stories to tell. I wrote, initially for a competition to ease the boredom when my son went to
university and I didn’t have to clean up as much!, even though I lost to a guy called Norman who wrote
about his life with racing pigeons it was a starting block and encouraged by colleagues at work I carried
on. I work for the NHS by day and escaped into Francesca and Julie Gold by night. I was overwhelmed
and still am, by the support and kind comments from my readers who took me to their hearts and the
book clubs who are always on hand to give good advice. Brilliant authors who understand you so that
you can support each other. It’s like a family network of its own.

suddenly faced with spirals their lives onwards and upwards into another dimention. they have both
known hardship but have the ambition to better themselves. Each in their own way they have demons
to fight, but, together they can face anything. This is an overpowering story of hardship, crime and love
and most of all Julie Gold. What an incredible woman she is. The original tart with a heart!
