Rocco is known as a sable roan cocker spaniel and lives with Pat. He is a sweet sensitive soul without a bad bone in his body and is now 9 years old. In the novels, he is owned by Susan Flynn.

Libby is a typical cocker spaniel, loves bounding around fields and into undergrowth trying to find game birds. She is so loving and has to be with her owner Diane wherever she is…. including the bathroom! At around 6 am, she insists that Diane gets up, of course for her breakfast. Libby is called ‘Libs’ in the novels. She was adopted by Susan in the first book, Death at Castle Cove and has become very close friends with Rocco.

Gemma is liver and white, short-haired with soft silky ears. She is an English Pointer x Springer spaniel, but predominantly Pointer. She lives with Pauline and loves flushing out pheasants and chasing rabbits. She enjoys being on the beach, but not swimming. Beachcombing is her thing; the collecting of driftwood is fun. Her happy place is the sofa cuddling with Dad, Andy.

In the novels, Gemma is called ‘Gem Gem’. She is owned by Robert and is close friends with cocker spaniel Dougie.

Dougie was a very loyal, kind and loving cocker spaniel. He lived with Fiona, who talks about how he never left her side. He loved swimming and chasing stones. Litter was not to be tolerated. If there was a bin close by, he would place litter he found in front of the bin and look at Fiona for her to put it in it. He was very playful. Socks were always to be found under the bed, as he liked to collect them.

In the novels, Dougie is owned by Robert and is great friends with Gem Gem.

Lottie is a gorgeous black cocker spaniel and lives with Wendy. Lottie loves the beach and the woods.

In the novels, Lottie is owned by Tracy who runs the village shop. Lottie loves meeting everyone who comes into the shop and is at the start of a great new friendship with fellow cocker spaniels, Rocco and Libs. They enjoy runs in the local recreation ground and even stay with her one night.
