A number of years ago I wrote a blog post. It said…
“My current work in progress, The Fake Date, is a story that’s made me laugh, cry and want to throw the laptop through the window. But I persevered. I kept going on the days I didn’t want to. Some days I’m on such a high, you wouldn’t be able to pull me off the ceiling and on other days, I’d crash, and I’d burn.”
This is exactly how I felt while writing this story. My story began with my heroine, Ella Gray. She’s a young, impressionable journalist who thinks she can conquer the world.
Her investigations take her in search of gym owner and personal trainer Rick Greaves. He’s a good-looking guy, with the most amazing physique. On the outside, he has it all. However, although he’s been married twice in the past, he no longer has a wife. Not anymore. Both of his wives died in suspicious circumstances and Ella believes that Rick Greaves may have been responsible for their deaths.
Ella joins the gym, knowing that’s the only way she’ll get to the truth. She gets up close and personal with Rick Greaves and makes sure she’s in the right place at the right time until, eventually, he asks her out on a date. To him, it’s real. But to her, it’s work.
But it’s a date that ends with Ella lying in a field, with her eyes carefully watching the hands of her old, broken watch tick past. The minutes turn into hours and while Ella waits to die, which she’s certain that she will, she looks back over her life and over what went wrong, but for the life of her, she can’t remember what happened on the fateful date that led her to that moment. All she can do is lay there, pray, and hope that help comes soon and when it does, she vows that she’ll find the person who hurt her, and she’ll make them pay. All she has to do first… is survive!
I really hope you enjoy reading The Fake Date as much as I loved writing it.

Ps: Make sure you look for the gorgeous Millie, my friend’s cockerpoo, who makes an appearance in this book.
