Boldwood is delighted to announce the acquisition of sixteen new authors – bringing the total number of writers on their list to 247. Many of the new authors reflect the investment the company has been making into the romance genre in all its permutations. From the dark, spicy romances of BJ Alpha and Bonnie Poirier, through the small town series of J.H. Croix, via the MM cowboy romances of J.S. Strange to the hot hockey exploits of Jennifer Hayward’s characters, Boldwood is setting out to appeal to a wide range of romance readers. In addition there are spicy monster romances from Sofia Aves, paranormal vampire-hunter love stories from Tiffany Daune and feisty trope-led romances from Madi Danielle. And finally queer cosy fantasy stories from David Green and a cosy romantasy series with dragons from Elizabeth Hrib.
In addition to building an exciting romance list, Boldwood continues to acquire the very best of commercial fiction in the crime genre, with bestselling crime thriller writers Mark Griffin and Craig Russell joining the list and Lucy Nichol bringing her own brand of feminist psychological horror writing. Whilst in the gang-lit genre we are thrilled to become the publisher of the Queen of the Glasgow underworld – Alex Kane. And lastly, to further enhance our historical fiction offering, we welcome Phyllida Shrimpton to the company with her World War Two saga series and SJA Turney with two new Roman action series. All authors have been contracted on multi-book deals and will be published in every format simultaneously in all English-language territories.
We are also delighted to announce another addition to the editorial team – Laurie Johnson – who joins as Editorial Director in August from Joffe Books to build her own list of bestselling titles across all the popular commercial fiction genres. She says: ‘I’m so happy to be joining the fantastic team at Boldwood Books. I’ve long admired their publishing and work ethos and their continued success speaks to the passion and commitment of all involved. I can’t wait to start adding exciting new voices to the talent that makes Boldwood so special.’ Amanda Ridout Founder and CEO comments: ‘As we approach our seventh publishing birthday and having sold 50 million books worldwide, I am thrilled to welcome sixteen more authors to the Boldwood family. I am proud at how quickly we are building a stellar romance list to add to our already highly successful activity across the other commercial fiction genres. And the arrival of Laurie will further enhance that endeavour.’
